The entire river arrives from the right, runs across the rock and goes over the edge in one broad white sheet, falling the full height of the gorge into a plunge pool you can see churning at the bottom. The green sits on a wide grassy ledge immediately beside it, with one bunker and mown grass running out to where the ground simply stops and the water starts. It is a long iron or a rescue for most people, which is the problem. This is not a hole that punishes a bad shot with a bogey. Anything leaked right goes over with the water, and there is no getting it back. The safe miss is left and long, away from the lip, and it is worth taking a club more than the number and aiming well away from the flag if the pin is cut anywhere near the edge. The spray drifts across the green all day and the ledge is often wet, so the ball will not check the way it would anywhere else. A cut stone path with a low parapet traverses the gorge wall and comes in behind the green, which is the only way on. You will hear the hole long before you see it.
