198 yards, and the shot is the easy part. The tee is a horseshoe of laminated glass bolted out from the canyon rim on steel ribs, hanging over nothing, with a strip of mown turf laid down the middle of it to hit from. Stand on the ball and the canyon floor is twelve hundred feet directly beneath your shoes, visible through the glass on both sides of your stance, with the river a thin green thread at the bottom of it. The green sits on the flat top of a butte out in the middle of the canyon, closely mown with one bunker short left, and the rock falls away sheer on every side of it, so there is no front edge to run one up and nowhere to bail out. What makes this hole hard has nothing to do with 198 yards. It is that your feet are telling you something your eyes are trying to ignore, and almost everybody swings quicker because of it. The fix is dull and it works: pick the club for the number, put your eyes on the flag rather than the floor, and make the same swing you would make off a mat at the range. The glass is rated for it. You are the only variable.
