100 yards, straight up. The green is four hundred feet above the tee on the top of a limestone wall, and from down here all you can see of it is the flag against the sky. Everything short of the shelf comes back down the face and finishes somewhere near your feet. That is the shot, and it is not the hard part. The hard part is what is behind the green, because the clifftop is a strip barely wider than the putting surface and the far side falls away into the sea. So you have a drop in front of you and a bigger drop behind, and the greenkeeper has sloped the back edge away toward the second one. Everything about this hole is designed to punish the ball that carries a yard too far. Play it as a comfortable full swing with plenty of loft, land it on the front half, and let it release toward the middle. There is no such thing as a good long miss here.
