Ninety yards, and every single thing you can see is frozen solid. The green is a circle swept clear on the sea ice itself, the tee is another swept rectangle, the ball is orange so you stand a chance of finding it, and icebergs sit locked in the fjord all around like they have been dropped there. Miss the green and you are not chipping out of rough, you are somewhere on the Arctic Ocean. The shot is the one every golfer quietly dreads, too short for a full swing and too long for a chip, which is exactly where decelerating creeps in and puts the club in the ice behind the ball. Take one more club than the number asks for, make a smooth three quarter swing that keeps accelerating, and if you are going to miss it, miss it long.
