141 yards, and the hole underneath the green is the one everybody looks at. The whole shot is played across open water to the flat grassy top of a sea arch, and you can see straight through the opening beneath it to the horizon on the other side. That gap is the reason the hole works. It tells you exactly how far down the sea is without anybody having to say so, and it turns a short iron into something most golfers would rather not have to hit. The green sits at the very top with one bunker and closely mown grass running to the lip, and there is nothing else up there at all. Miss it and the ball is in the Atlantic, because every side of the arch is a drop. There is no apron, no bank, no bail out and nothing to catch a poor strike. The stone causeway running out from the near cliff is the only way on and off, which means the walk of shame after a bad one is a long and public one. Take the club that gets you comfortably past the front edge rather than the one that would just about reach on your best strike, and aim at the middle. The wind coming off the sea will be the deciding factor on the day, and it is rarely helping.
