Tyneside was designed and laid out over a century ago by world-renowned golf course architect Harry S Colt. The current course was designed and laid out by Harry S Colt in 1911, whose design portfolio includes Wentworth and Sunningdale. The classic layout has withstood the test of time and is currently undergoing a refurbishment programme by Frank Pont of Infinite Variety Golf Design, the renowned European Golf Architect who specialises in Colt restorations. The original Colt classic is simply getting better every year. The course has been blessed by nature. It sits high above the River Tyne and the beautiful Tyne valley on a sand and gravel base, giving the course incredible drainage. Tyneside is open all year round when many other courses in the area are closed. At a little over six thousand yards and with a par of 70 it is not overlong but offers a stiff challenge to any golfer. Every hole is distinct, both in appearance and the way it plays, offering great variety for your round – for example the 4 par 3’s point directly North ,South, .East and West and are completely different in nature and length, creating a different challenge whatever the conditions. Tyneside offers a fantastic golfing experience – a stiff and varied golf challenge in tranquil and beautiful surroundings.
