Society days sorted: guests, groups and one scorecard for the whole group

The short answer

Golf Handicapp now handles the whole society day. Bring guests with no account, sort players into groups, let one person mark the card for their group, and share a live leaderboard the clubhouse can watch. Every qualifying round still updates each player's WHS handicap.

When we launched Live Leaderboards, the round you played in the event finally counted toward your handicap automatically. This update is about the day around that round: the visitor without the app, the fourball where only one person wants to be on their phone, and the people back in the bar who want to see how it is going.

Guests: bring anyone, no account needed

Add a guest with just a name, their handicap and the tee they are playing. They show up on the leaderboard like everyone else, with nothing to download and no subscription. It is built for the society day or the visitor making up the numbers, so nobody is left off the board because they do not have the app yet.

Groups and card markers: one phone for the whole group

Split the field into groups, then set one person as the card marker for each. That person enters everyone's scores from a single phone, and the rest of the group just plays and watches the board. No scorecards passed around, no double entry, and no waiting for four people to remember to log their round.

Joining is a six digit code

Share a code or a QR from the event and players join in seconds, then pick their own tee. Because handicaps are worked out per tee, a mixed group all playing different tees still gets a fair net board. A guest, a low handicapper and a high handicapper can share the same event and the standings stay honest.

A leaderboard for the clubhouse

Share the live board as a web link and anyone can follow along in a browser, with no app and no login. Put it full screen on the clubhouse TV and it keeps up on its own as the scores come in. The people who are not playing get to watch the finish just as closely as the ones out on the course.

Where to find it

It is the everyday group golf that golfers actually organise, now without the admin. There are full step by step how-tos on our support site, and the wider feature lives on the tournaments page.

Common questions

Do guests need the app or a subscription?+

No. A guest is added by the host with a name, their handicap and the tee they are playing. There is nothing to install and nothing to pay. They appear on the leaderboard like any other player.

Can one person keep score for the whole group?+

Yes. Set a card marker for each group and that person enters every score in their group from a single phone. Everyone else just plays and watches the board.

How do people join an event?+

The host shares a six digit code or a QR. Players enter the code, pick their own tee, and they are on the board. Handicaps are worked out per tee, so a mixed group still gets a fair net leaderboard.
